Story & Setting
Set years before the events of the original, the film explores the origins of Kantara land and its spiritual essence. Berme (Rishab Shetty), the tribal leader, stands against King Kulasekhara (Gulshan Devaiah) of Bangra, sparking a conflict between tradition and power. The betrayal Berme faces, coupled with his divine possession sequences, forms the emotional and dramatic backbone of the film.
While the premise is powerful, the first half feels stretched with uneven pacing and underwhelming comedy sequences. However, the second half rises magnificently, offering gripping war scenes, intense drama, and a spiritually charged climax.
Performances
Rishab Shetty once again proves why he is the soul of Kantara. His portrayal of Berme, especially during trance and divine possession scenes, is riveting and rooted in authenticity. Rukmini Vasanth emerges as the surprise package—her role is not just ornamental but pivotal to the narrative, and she shines in the climax.
Gulshan Devaiah delivers a convincing performance as the Bangra king, while Jayaram impresses as the aging ruler. However, the supporting cast and comic subplots dilute the emotional intensity in parts.
